Van Freeman

Act I

"I want to find a place where I can
grow as an actor and as a person."

About Van.

Van Freeman · Blue Valley North · Class of 2027

Van Freeman is a senior at Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kansas, where the stage has become his second classroom. From his first role to his current run as president of the Thespians, theater has shaped how he tells stories, leads a room, and listens.

He carries a 4.0 unweighted GPA, edits for the school newspaper, and has served three consecutive years as a student council officer for his class. Outside of school he volunteers with Sources of Strength, mentoring peers through a culture of well-being and connection.

On stage, Van has stretched across a wide range of work — comedy and tragedy, ensemble and lead, period and contemporary — from Prince Eric and The Lorax to Putnam County Spelling Bee. He approaches every role with curiosity, generosity to his scene partners, and a willingness to do the unglamorous work that makes a show land.

Now Van is preparing for the next stage: college theater. He's looking for a program that takes craft seriously and rewards artists who show up early, stay late, and bring everyone with them.
